HOT CHOCOLATE

Yes, hot chocolate can be very good for you.
After some trial and error, I found a new, dairy-free version that I like as much as the old one. In fact, my new hot chocolate recipe is popular with the whole family now they get to enjoy hot chocolate while feeling deeply nourished.

Raw cocoa is filled with nutrients, and the superfoods I add to this drink provide even more goodness.
This recipe is full of minerals and healthy fats, including magnesium, silica and omega-3 fatty acids.

For variety, you can experiment with adding other super foods such as goji berries, pre-soaked chia seeds, and dried ashwagandha, camu camu or maca powder in the quantities you like. These super foods pack a lot of nutrition but require time to get use to in your diet. Start slowly until you become accustomed to these flavors.

Makes 2 large cups
Ingredients
  • 2 ½ Tbsp. of raw cocoa (you can use a melted chocolate bar if you prefer, but choose a high quality, fair-trade one with 70 to 80% cocoa and minimal added sugar)
  • 2 Tbsp. hemp hearts
  • 2 Medjool dates
  • 1 Tbsp. raw honey (more if you like)
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

  • Add all ingredients to your high-speed blender.
  • Bring 2 ½ cups of water to boil. (You can simply warm the water to the desired temperature if you prefer keeping the cocoa raw and all the enzymes intact.)
  • Blend and pour into your favorite cup.

YOUR BRAIN IS NAGGING YOU? HERE ARE 5 WAYS TO MAKE ITS STOP.

Your job review is scheduled in two days and, in passing, your boss says, “Well, we’ll certainly have a lot to talk about.” You try to put what he said out of your mind—what did he mean by that?—but it keeps coming back, and now you’re a nervous wreck. You’re sitting in the airport, ready to board, and thoughts of every plane crash you’ve ever read about keep barging into your head. You try to shake them off, reminding yourself that plane travel is safer than driving a car, but it doesn’t work. You’re going to the doctor next week to have that mark on your thigh looked at and you think it’s probably nothing, but worst-case scenarios float into your head 24/7 and distracting yourself doesn’t work. Why is that?

DUMPED, BUT NOT DOWN ( HOW TO DEAL WITH REJECTION)

Rejection is a fundamental law of the (social) universe. But if you laser in on every dis, you'll likely trigger a self-fulfilling prophecy. Rejection-sensitivity is on the rise, but you can learn to brave even the biggest brush-offs. Everybody hurts. In ways big and small, we are all snubbed every day of our lives. Of course, we can't possibly like everyone who likes us or join every group that would have us as a member, so we constantly let others down, too. It's the way the social universe operates. And yet, when it happens to us, we tend to take it personally. Very personally. And, often enough, hard.
