HOT CHOCOLATE

Yes, hot chocolate can be very good for you.
After some trial and error, I found a new, dairy-free version that I like as much as the old one. In fact, my new hot chocolate recipe is popular with the whole family now they get to enjoy hot chocolate while feeling deeply nourished.

Raw cocoa is filled with nutrients, and the superfoods I add to this drink provide even more goodness.
This recipe is full of minerals and healthy fats, including magnesium, silica and omega-3 fatty acids.

For variety, you can experiment with adding other super foods such as goji berries, pre-soaked chia seeds, and dried ashwagandha, camu camu or maca powder in the quantities you like. These super foods pack a lot of nutrition but require time to get use to in your diet. Start slowly until you become accustomed to these flavors.

Makes 2 large cups
Ingredients
  • 2 ½ Tbsp. of raw cocoa (you can use a melted chocolate bar if you prefer, but choose a high quality, fair-trade one with 70 to 80% cocoa and minimal added sugar)
  • 2 Tbsp. hemp hearts
  • 2 Medjool dates
  • 1 Tbsp. raw honey (more if you like)
  • 1 tsp. coconut oil
  • 1 tsp. vanilla powder
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
Preparation

  • Add all ingredients to your high-speed blender.
  • Bring 2 ½ cups of water to boil. (You can simply warm the water to the desired temperature if you prefer keeping the cocoa raw and all the enzymes intact.)
  • Blend and pour into your favorite cup.
